Moya Matcha Bowl Matchawan - Umi | وعاء خلط

The Umi Matchawan is handcrafted on a potter's wheel from gray clay with a subtle addition of fireclay and a glaze made in accordance with centuries-old Japanese tradition. It was created as part of the limited edition KOOE for MOYA series, made by the Krakow-based KOOE ceramics studio, whose products are characterized not only by beautiful forms but also by exceptional durability due to high-temperature firing. Each matchawan in this series is a unique piece, and its appearance and size may therefore slightly differ from the one pictured.

A matchawan is a traditional tool used in the Japanese tea ceremony. It is also by far the most convenient vessel for drinking matcha, which is best whisked with a bamboo whisk (called a chasen). The bowl's vertical walls and wide base allow for easy and convenient whisking of matcha into the water, quickly creating a layer of foam on the surface. It's important to remember that the temperature of the water used to prepare matcha should not exceed 80°C.
